Hansen School District Coronavirus Updates

This is an emerging, rapidly changing situation and Hansen School District will follow the guidance of South Central Public Health as it progresses. For questions please contact your physician or the local department of health. We encourage you to keep up to date about 2019-nCoV in our area, you will find links to information on the What is Coronavirus page

On July 20, 2020 the Hansen school board approved a fall school re-entry plan for the district. Step 3 of that plan talks about a school schedule that is designed to limit contact by reducing the number of students in the building at any one time. Since this type of schedule will greatly affect parents routines, work schedules and plans for child care, we would like your input. The results of this survey will help determine the schedule we will use for this situation. We appreciate your input and support.

Hansen SD #415 Operational COVID Protocol

April 9, 2020

Hello Hansen SD #415, Parents, Students, Patrons, and Staff:

As many of you have heard, the Idaho State Board of Education voted to extend the soft closure of Idaho schools through the rest of the year with the caveat that a local board could decide to reopen if social distancing requirements are lifted and state-wide criteria are met (criterion will be developed over the coming week and any decision to reopen would be done in coordination with the local health department). This decision effectively extends the soft closure here in Hansen for the remainder of the 19-20 school year. For now, I encourage all staff, students, and families to plan as if distance learning will continue for the remainder of the year.

Our administrators will be working with teachers to identify and communicate the vital things we need students to master to close out the year. Our staff has appreciated all the support the families of our students have given to assist in their children(s) education during this unprecedented time. Let's continue to work together to make the next couple of months the best they can be!

As the situation with COVID-19 changes so rapidly, please know our intent will be to do everything we can for our seniors and their graduation. We will continue to provide district updates as the weeks progress.

Sincerely,
David Carson
Superintendent Hansen School District #415

The Idaho State Board of Education approved a “soft close” of the state’s schools until April 20. This means all Idaho students including ours in Hansen will not return to campuses throughout Idaho until at least Monday, April 20.

The State Board directed districts to provide instructional opportunities to the best of their capacity during this closure recognizing many districts are currently on Spring Break. Our teachers spent last week preparing their classes for online learning. Your students should receive information from their teachers about how to proceed during the closure once spring break is over. Please encourage your children to enjoy the remainder of Spring Break.

Our school board is continually monitoring the situation and will meet on Friday. March 27th @ 7 pm to further discuss our plans for moving forward. We will update you as information becomes available. Please be sure to follow Hansen Jr/Sr High School and Hansen Elementary on Facebook as well
