This may look like a common, crafty egg drop project, but this is no ordinary Egg Drop Challenge! Freshmen are flexing their "Think Like a Scientist" muscles by learning and working through the Engineering Design Process, all while thinking about the question - How can I reduce forces in a collision? They are pretty familiar with how seatbelts work, but applying Newton's Laws of Motion and the Law of Conservation of Momentum to a new problem is exciting! This project hits five high school science standards, six cross-cutting concepts, and eight science & engineering practices! And these students were ALL IN!!!
