Students in After School Program

We learned just before spring break that our application to renew our 21st Century Community Learning Center grant was not selected for funding. Hansen has used the grant to fund the Impact Club for the past five years. A huge thank you goes out to Mrs. Hernandez and others who made the program a success - positively impacting the lives of Hansen students! As many of you know, the Impact Club activities will continue through summer school in June.

Since spring break, we have been working hard to develop a program that allows us to continue providing services to students who may have academic gaps. Because there will be a sizable cut in funding for the program, we have adjusted the program. We will return to a format similar to that used in the past for those who have been in Hansen for a while. Highlights of the program are as follows:

  • Tentatively scheduled to begin on September 13, 2022

  • Tutoring on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:00 until 5:00 each week

  • Teachers will invite students to attend dependent on their academic need

  • One teacher working with no more than ten students

  • One teacher working with no more than ten students

  • One teacher for second and third-grade students - 6 per grade

  • One teacher for fourth through sixth grade - maximum of 20 students

  • A snack will be provided

  • Students will be re-evaluated at the quarter to determine who will continue in the program.

As the end of the year approaches, I hope you have a fun-filled summer with your child. When planning for next year, please consider the information presented above.

Sincerely,

Angie Lakey-Campbell
